It was such a BEAUTIFUL day/evening, so we decided to take the kids beach combing during the low tide this evening. It was surprisingly low, so the beach combing was FANTASTIC...
Just a close up of the beach...I love the contours the waves leave behind.
I know...entirely TO MANY pictures of my kids from behind, but I am never fast enough to be in front of them! They were so excited to see that "starfish island" was NOT under water.
It wasn't until we were on our way that we realized the dogs could NOT walk the beach...they don't have the right boots!!! So, James and I carried them! I hate leaving them behind all the time...I think they had fun!
Becks and Boozer
OK - this picture needs a little explanation...Oaks is a bit shorter than the rest of us, so she usually ends up with water in her boots. After this particular crossing, she was concerned about the WEIGHT of her boots, so James told her to lift a leg and the water would just come rushing out...sure enough, THAT is exactly what happened...wish I could have got a better picture!
So, there I was walking the beach, minding my own business when I stepped and heard this crunching sound. When I looked down to see what it was, there was this crab making it's way out of the sand...Hunter was a wee bit excited!
Hunter and his crab
Hunter had quite the loot...one hand is FULL of sand dollars, and the other is a sunfish with a starfish on top!
Me and Booz hanging out on "starfish island" The tide was starting to come back in at this point....time to head back.
Kaiden and Hunter still searching for starfish, sunfish, crab and whatever else they could find!!!
Brittany...she tried to keep everything in the bucket, but soon ran out of room...notice the starfish in the hand with the bucket! Oaks just LOVIN' the adventure.
Check out this strange looking crab James found...
...another view.
Kaiden with the crab he pulled from the water...I know they look small, but it's a scary thing...those front claws can do SERIOUS damage!
Hunters crab that he pulled from the tide.
Kaiden's sunfish and starfish...that sunfish was HUGE...WAY too big to bring home, but we had to get a picture anyways.
The view....still can't believe this is HOME!!!
A fishing boat
Hunter with his sunfish and his starfish...the sunfish looks like goo, but when laid down, it spreads out and takes the shape of a sun.
The LOOT...we only let them keep a small portion of this...takes too much to dry them out!
The tide was coming in, so we headed back. Seriously, could we live anywhere more beautiful?!?!
Just another view on the walk home.
James and I took the long road home so the dogs could get some RUNNING in...
...James had to eat our dust!!!
