San Juan X-treme...

A few coaches from Monticello and Blanding decided to put together a San Juan County 11 and under baseball team to compete in Springville this spring. There are 6 boys from each town on the team. I had heard J.C. talking about it, but figured that Kaiden was too old...as it turns out, the cut-off is April 30th, so Kaiden is eligible to play! Hurray!!! After only ONE practice on Friday afternoon, the boys headed to Moab Saturday morning to play. The game started out GREAT...we were up by 8 points. Because the boys are from different towns, and had never played together, they had a few mistakes that put them behind at the end of the game. Also, I guess there is a rule in little league that DOES NOT allow the boys to "lead off" until they are in an older league...well, the Moab coach said that this particular league DOES allow the boys to "lead off," so that really threw us a loop. This is something that the boys have NEVER been allowed to do...they learned while playing...and I think they were just fine!!! The second game started with a frustrating inning, but the boys played GREAT and have NOTHING to be ashamed of...the stuck with it the whole time and NEVER gave up! J.C. is very excited and thinks the boys have awesome potential. I am way excited to see how they play after they actually have practice and learn each other's strengths and weaknesses. Kaiden is super excited...and a little nervous. I'm not sure I have it in me to be a "sports mom," but I will do my best...it's just hard to see my son discouraged! Anyways, I will try to keep the blog updated throughout the season. They will play ever-other weekend from the end of April to the middle of June (in Springville)...anybody know the cheapest place to get gas?!?!?

My mighty ball player! What a stud!!!

Taking a few practice swings...wish his mother could learn to focus the camera!

Up to bat...Kaiden hit both times he was at the plate.

Alex is ready to swing...

...and he makes contact!!!

That's awesome!!! You will have to let us know when the games are. Brayden loves to watch baseball and would love to watch Kaiden and Alex. He is always asking us when it's his turn to be a "big baseball player" is:)

Baseball already? I keep forgetting to tell my kids about sports, and then they don't even know what they are missing. Good for Kaiden and Alex! (and coach J.C.)
