Went well...

...so, I am a little drugged, but I wanted to post really quick. Things went well on Thursday with my knee surgery. I will have to figure out all the technical terms, so I can give an accurate account, but for now I will give the drugged out Becky account. I checked in to the U of U Orthopedic Center around 11:30 Thursday morning. I had the GREATEST pre-op nurse EVER...his name was Mike and he took GREAT care of me! I got in the cute little hospital gear and grippy socks and headed off to get a nerve block for my leg. They gave me a little something to relax me, so I don't remember much after that...but, according to James I went in for the procedure around 1:15 and was out at 3:45. They fixed my ACL, cleaned up the meniscus, and did a microfracture thingy (poked holes in my bone to let it bleed and create a cushion where cartilage used to be...I will figure out technical terms when I am a little less drugged). The doctor told James that everything went well...in fact, it was better than they thought it would be...that's always good, right? Well, the downer was that, according to the doctor, I have the knee of a 65-year-old. So, if any of you see a 65-year-old out there running around with the knee of a 32-year-old, I would like it BACK! I've been recovering at my dad's house, but I am home now...HURRAY!!! Yesterday was the worst day, so I think I should be better from here. Anyways, the meds are kickin' in and I am not making any sense, so I will close for now. Thank you for all the support and well wishes. I have the GREATEST friends and family in the WORLD! I love you all...

PS - here's a little look of my post-op knee...it's taken with my cell phone, so it's not great! Notice the "yes" on the second picture...that is so they make sure to cut into the correct knee...you know, because the great big white sock covering the entire other leg was not indication enough! I guess it is always better to be safe than sorry, right?

Hey Beck, good to know things went well for you. Take it easy and let the hubby and kids take care of you.

Hope you're feeling better today! I DID see your knee on a 65 year old the other day... should I try to get it back for you?

Jolyn,

Yes, stop the 65-year-old with my knee...I need it back. Of course, if it is my knee, the individual is probably running so fast that nobody can keep up...okay, maybe that is a bit of an exaggeration, but it makes me feel better! :)

We are glad everything went well, and hope your recovery goes smoothly and quickly as well. I was at Relief Society when they announced that your surgery had gone better than expected, but you had the knee of a 65 year-old. And someone commented, "So it was good because they thought she had the knee of an 85 year-old, but it turns out it was only the knee of a 65 year-old?!" It was kind of cute. Know we are all rooting for you, and let me know if you need anything, k?
