Snow Shoeing

I was reading a comment that Carrie put on facebook this morning, and I had to LAUGH!  When we first talked about moving to Alaska, I wasn't sure if I would be able to handle all the SNOW and COLD.  Carrie informed me that Prince of Wales didn't really get THAT much snow, and that the temperatures were really quite MILD compared to other parts of Alaska.  I, of course, had to respond with, "That may be true, but just you watch...James and I will move to Prince of Wales and it will be THE YEAR for record breaking snow fall!"  Well....I'm not sure it's RECORD BREAKING, but the snow fall this year has been MORE than recent years!!!  Sorry, Carrie!!!  :)

So, with another day of beautiful snow, we took the kids, borrowed some snow-shoes from the school, and ventured down to check on the house of a friend from our branch (he winters in Utah and summers in Alaska).  Because of the recent snow, we had to drive to the end of the plowed road to find a place to park.  We then ventured down the road to the turn off, put our snow-shoes on, and away we went!  It really was quite a lot of fun!!!

Taking the snow shoes down the road before stopping at the turn-off to put them on.
Kaid helping out by carrying James' shoes (so James could take pictures)
A quick shot of Oaks stompin' thru the snow

Beck, I just got caught up on your blog. Your family looks so great. It looks like you guys are having fun in all that snow. James just got some snowmobiles, and has said we need to get the family snow shoes for when we go up to camp jackson. You made me actually want the snow shoes, it looks so fun. Love ya!
